Job summary

Brattleboro Retreat operates a hospital power plant to provide electricity, steam and hot water for the complex. The operator will run, test, monitor and document all plant systems to ensure safe, reliable performance and regulatory compliance.

Desirable candidates hold a fourth class engineer license or eligibility, and must be flexible to cover rotating shifts, including weekends, with some security and fire alarm testing duties as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent or four years approved on-the-job training.
• Fourth class engineer license in accordance with NIULPE preferred or eligible.
• Able to cover different shifts to maintain 24/7 coverage.
• Ability to enter boiler and pressure vessel manholes preferred.
• Willingness to rotate weekends.

Responsibilities

• Operates, maintains, monitors and documents all power plant equipment and systems.
• Performs preventative maintenance on boilers, chillers and auxiliaries.
• Repairs power plant equipment and maintains documentation for procedures.
• Provides security coverage as needed and maintains facility access.
• Tests fire alarm systems and supports related emergency procedures.
• Generates material lists and manages supplies and inventory.
