Job summary

MidAmerican Energy Company seeks a Gas System Controller to manage the gas transmission and distribution network from Sioux City, IA. The role requires a 24x7 rotating shift and involves alarm response, system balancing, and coordination with field crews to maintain safe, reliable service.

You will monitor pressure and flow, direct emergency operations, and ensure compliance with the control room management program while supporting daily supply sourcing decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or technical field is required.
• Two years relevant work experience is required.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to recognize patterns and make recommendations.
• Ability to coordinate with pipelines, suppliers and customers in operations.
• Advanced critical thinking and multi-tasking abilities with shifting priorities.
• Must become an OQ qualified and trained gas controller.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with spreadsheets and databases.

Responsibilities

• Control, dispatch and monitor operation of transmission lines and gas systems.
• Respond to alarms with field personnel and manage system integrity.
• Direct activities of crews during emergencies and shutdowns.
• Coordinate with field personnel for construction and maintenance work.
• Prepare compliance reports and control room management reviews.
• Assist in determining most economical supply mix and daily purchases.
• Ensure adequate pressure and flow and direct peak shaving operations.
• Handle nominations and accounting of gas transported on pipelines.
• Call out personnel for regulator adjustments and maintenance tasks.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
