Job summary

Emergency Telecommunicator Services is seeking fire dispatchers to coordinate emergency responses at the Flom location. You will receive incident details, verify locations, alert stations, and dispatch units to incidents with strict adherence to established procedures.

The role requires strong radio communication, data entry accuracy, and calm decision-making under pressure. On-site work during day and night shifts is common, with training provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; some agencies offer entry-level training.
• Ability to handle data entry with high accuracy and maintain records.
• Comfort with computers, maps, and radio communication systems.
• Experience with dispatch protocols and incident reporting is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Receive and document reports of fires, rescues, alarms, and hazardous conditions
• Verify incident locations, access information, and reported risks
• Alert stations and dispatch apparatus using approved response assignments
• Monitor radio channels, unit availability, and incident status
• Relay information about occupants, hazards, and changing conditions
• Process requests for additional resources through established procedures
• Coordinate mutual-aid communications when assigned
• Record dispatch times, unit movements, and significant incident updates
