Job summary

Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services is seeking a Communications Operator for Eastern State Hospital. The role coordinates reception services and emergency information dissemination 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, supporting crisis response and hospital operations.

Qualifications

• Experience providing customer service.
• Able to attend Telecommunications School at the Hampton Roads Criminal Justice Academy after start of employment.
• Experience in a medical setting.
• Experience in a Security Control Center.
• Experience dispatching calls for security or law enforcement.
• Experience monitoring fire alarm systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide a customer service oriented central reception function for the hospital 24/7.
• Mobilize emergency services and personnel in response to crisis situations.
• Work different shifts including nights, weekends and holidays.
• Act as essential personnel during emergencies or facility needs.
