Job summary

City of Los Angeles seeks an Electric Trouble Dispatcher to receive and analyze trouble reports and dispatch crews to restore service. You will use multiple computer systems and update data related to electric trouble dispatching, and coordinate with field crews and other divisions.

The role requires plans and directs switching on 7,500-volt and below circuits, plus on-call duties including nights, holidays, weekends, and 24-hour emergencies.

Qualifications

• Four years of full-time paid experience in electrical transmission or distribution equipment, street lighting electrical equipment, or electrical systems.
• Three years of full-time paid experience including training in operation or maintenance of a nuclear power plant and/or its auxiliaries on a naval ship.
• Three years of full-time paid experience performing electrical work on equipment and circuits in the maintenance or construction of electrical systems (US Armed Forces).

Responsibilities

• Receive and analyze electric trouble complaints and dispatch personnel and equipment to restore service.
• Operate computer systems programs and update databases related to electric trouble dispatching.
• Relate reports from field crews to other sections and divisions and update maps/drawings.
• Plan, schedule, and direct switching on 7,500-volt and below circuits under the Electric Trouble Board.
