Job summary

Johnson County Government in New Century, KS, is seeking a Shift Supervisor for the Adult Residential Center. This on-site role supports a 24/7 operation, overseeing staff, ensuring a safe environment for residents, staff, and the community as individuals transition back into society.

The position requires strong leadership, adherence to policies, and the ability to coordinate responses during emergencies, with a focus on evidence-based practices and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Associate degree and two years of Corrections Officer experience or equivalent in a correctional/residential setting; pass background check; valid driver’s license.
• Pre-employment drug screen and physical ability test required.

Responsibilities

• Supervises staff, enforces policies, and ensures safety and compliance.
• Maintains daily resident counts, inspections, and incident documentation.
• Oversees resident searches and de-escalation efforts; coordinates emergency responses.
• Develops staff through mentoring, coaching, and training.
• Assists in incident command during emergencies and ensures policy adherence.

Education

Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice, Psychology, Sociology, Human Development or relevant field

Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Psychology, Sociology, Human Development or relevant field
