Job summary

Johnson County Government seeks a Shift Supervisor for the Adult Residential Center in New Century, KS. The role provides on-site supervision to staff, ensures a safe, weapon-free 24/7 environment, and enforces facility policies for residents and staff.

Responsibilities include administering daily counts, inspections, incident documentation, and coordinating training and disciplinary actions as needed. Expect leadership in emergencies and strict adherence to regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice, Psychology, Sociology, Human Development or relevant field; two (2) years of corrections or related experience.
• Background check and valid driver's license required; drug screen and physical ability test.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred; leadership experience in corrections or supervisory roles is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Supervise personnel; ensure adherence to rules and regulations; assign tasks and review reports.
• Conduct daily population counts, inspections, and order repairs; document incidents.
• Oversee disciplinary processes; assist in de-escalation; coordinate emergency responses.
• Provide mentoring and training; support staff development; maintain records.
• Ensure compliance with state and federal laws; participate in policy revisions.
