Job summary

Backer Hotwatt, Inc. is seeking a Quality Technician in Danvers, MA to support quality assurance by inspecting materials, components, and finished products to meet specifications. Work with production, engineering and management to drive continuous improvement.

The role emphasizes testing, documentation, and analysis, with duties spanning calibration, audits, CAPA, and training of staff while ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical education preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in quality assurance or quality control in manufacturing.
• Familiarity with inspection tools: calipers, micrometers, height gauges, metrology instruments.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
• Working knowledge of quality systems (ISO 9001).
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic computer skills incl. MS Office and quality documentation systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform in-process, final, and incoming inspections using measurement tools, visual criteria, and test equipment.
• Interpret and apply drawings, blueprints, specifications, and quality standards to inspection tasks.
• Document nonconformances and work with production and engineering to resolve quality issues.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, tests, and audits.
• Support root cause analysis and CAPA efforts.
• Assist in calibration and maintenance of inspection and test equipment.
• Participate in internal audits and support ISO or other standards compliance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve quality systems and processes.
• Help train employees on quality procedures and inspection criteria as needed.
• Promote and adhere to safety, environmental, and workplace policies.

The Quality Technician at Backer Hotwatt, Inc. is responsible for supporting the quality assurance process by inspecting materials, components, and finished products to ensure they meet required specifications and standards. What We Are Looking For

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical education preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in a quality assurance or quality control role in a manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other metrology instruments.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Working knowledge of quality systems and standards (e.g., ISO 9001).
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and experience with quality documentation systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with statistical process control (SPC), root cause analysis, or Six Sigma.
• Previous experience working in an ISO-certified or regulated industry.
• Familiarity with ERP systems for quality tracking and reporting.
