Job summary

Backer Hotwatt, Inc. is seeking a Quality Technician to support QA processes in a manufacturing environment. You will inspect materials, components, and finished products to ensure they meet specifications.

Collaborating with production, engineering, and management, you will document tests, track nonconformances, and assist CAPA efforts while upholding ISO 9001 standards and a safe workplace.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical education preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in quality assurance/quality control in manufacturing.
• Familiarity with calipers, micrometers, height gauges and metrology tools.
• Ability to read/interpret technical drawings and specs.
• Working knowledge of quality systems/standards (ISO 9001).
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office and quality docs systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform in-process, final, and incoming inspections with measurement tools and test equipment.
• Interpret/apply technical drawings, blueprints, specs and quality standards.
• Document nonconformances and work with production/engineering to resolve issues.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, tests, and audits.
• Support root-cause analysis and CAPA efforts.
• Assist in calibration/maintenance of inspection/test equipment.
• Participate in internal audits; support ISO/regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve quality systems/processes.
• Train employees on quality procedures and inspection criteria.
• Promote safety, environmental, and workplace policies.

The Quality Technician at Backer Hotwatt, Inc. is responsible for supporting the quality assurance process by inspecting materials, components, and finished products to ensure they meet required specifications and standards. Working closely with production, engineering, and management, the Quality Technician helps drive continuous improvement and maintains product integrity through testing, documentation, and analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform in-process, final, and incoming inspections using measurement tools, visual criteria, and test equipment.
• Interpret and apply technical drawings, blueprints, specifications, and quality standards to inspection tasks.
• Document nonconformances and work with production and engineering to resolve quality issues.
• Maintain accurate and detailed records of inspections, tests, and audits.
• Support root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) efforts.
• Assist in calibration and maintenance of inspection and test equipment.
• Participate in internal audits and support compliance with ISO or other regulatory/quality standards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve quality systems and processes.
• Help train employees on quality procedures and inspection criteria as needed.
• Promote and adhere to safety, environmental, and workplace policies.

What We Are Looking For

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical education preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in a quality assurance or quality control role in a manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other metrology instruments.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Working knowledge of quality systems and standards (e.g., ISO 9001).
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and experience with quality documentation systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with statistical process control (SPC), root cause analysis, or Six Sigma.
• Previous experience working in an ISO-certified or regulated industry.
• Familiarity with ERP systems for quality tracking and reporting.
