Job summary

The YMCA of Metro Atlanta is hiring a 21st Century Parent Engagement Coordinator to support community engagement through recruitment and program information dissemination. This role involves working closely with families and ensuring a smooth operation of the 21st CCLC program.

Qualifications

  • Pass a criminal background and drug screening check, a motor vehicle record check, and a reference check.

Job description

Position Overview

The YMCA of Metro Atlanta is a non‑profit organization serving communities across Atlanta. The 21st Century Parent Engagement Coordinator reports to the Afterschool Director and supports the 21st CCLC program by recruiting parents, disseminating program information, scheduling virtual parent meetings and workshops, and following up on student absences. The coordinator works closely with the 21st CCLC team and helps families identify additional community resources as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out daily program tasks related directly to the position's scope.
  • Stay updated on issues regarding 21st CCLC programming.
  • Support Site Coordinator and Academic Team in recruitment, attendance, and all parent activities, meetings, and workshops to keep the 21st CCLC site running smoothly with a high level of service.
  • Assist with timely collection and submittal of information (flyers, agendas, sign‑in sheets) as required.
  • Maintain branch and association certifications in CPR, Multimedia First Aid, Blood‑borne Pathogens, Metro Atlanta YMCA New Staff Orientation, and branch and off‑site emergency procedures.
  • Assist in YMCA and school community tasks as needed.
  • Maintain and report incident/accident paperwork in a timely fashion.
  • Implement wellness checks and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
  • Deliver age and/or grade‑level appropriate lessons and collaborate with youth, parents, and teachers to ensure timely information for parents.
  • Support academic and enrichment activities.
Qualifications
  • Paraprofessional certificate and a high school diploma or GED.
  • At least 21 years of age.
  • Associate degree in education preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience working in Title1 schools or as a Parent Liaison preferred.
  • Required certifications: Paraprofessional certificate, 2‑year Associate Teaching Certificate; additional certifications required for the position will be obtained.
  • Working knowledge of 21st CCLC requirements.
  • Proficiency with computers (MSWord, MSExcel, database management).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required professional development activities.
  • Exemplify YMCA ideals and leadership qualities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, work independently, problem‑solve, and manage time effectively.
  • Strong customer‑service skills and personal commitment to service and hospitality.
  • Pass a criminal background and drug screening check, a motor vehicle record check, and a reference check.
  • Have own reliable transportation.
  • Ergonomic requirements: sitting, bending, stooping, standing, 15% repetitive keyboard work, lifting up to 25pounds.
