Job summary

YMCA of Metro Atlanta is looking for qualified candidates to carry out daily program responsibilities associated with the Cowart Family Ashford Dunwoody YMCA. This position includes promoting the smooth operation of the 21st CCLC site and developing appropriate lessons for youth.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree and at least two years of experience in working with Title1 schools. A Georgia Teaching Certificate is preferred, and the role requires excellent interpersonal skills, effective time management, and a commitment to customer service.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and Georgia Teaching Certificate preferred.
  • Minimum 21 years of age.
  • At least 2 years of experience working with Title1 schools preferred.
  • Pass a criminal background check and drug screening.
  • Obtain CPR certification within 30 days of employment.

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Carry out daily program tasks related directly to the position's scope and responsibilities.
  • Stay updated on current issues regarding 21st CCLC programming.
  • Promote, monitor, evaluate and ensure that 21st CCLC site runs smoothly with a high level of service to participants.
  • Timely collection and submission of data and reports required by 21st CCLC.
  • Maintain branch and association certifications in CPR, Multi‑Media First Aid, Bloodborne Pathogens, Metro Atlanta YMCA New Staff Orientation, Branch and off‑site Emergency procedures, and any other certifications or training required by the Metro Atlanta YMCA.
  • Assist as needed in all aspects of the YMCA and school community.
  • Participate in and partner with After School cabinet activities.
  • Maintain and report incident/accident paperwork in a timely fashion.
  • Develop age and/or grade‑level appropriate lessons.
  • Provide homework and class‑work instruction and tutorials.
  • Collaborate with youth, parents, and school‑day teachers to ensure that youth receive effective academic sessions.
  • Facilitate all academic sessions and serve as the lead academic instructor.
  • Develop assessment tools to document academic progress.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree and Georgia Teaching Certificate preferred.
  • Minimum 21 years of age.
  • At least 2 years of experience working with Title1 schools preferred.
  • Required certifications: Teaching Certificate; additional certifications as required for the position.
  • Working knowledge of 21st CCLC requirements.
  • Working knowledge of computers: MSWord, MSExcel, database management.
  • Attend required professional development activities.
  • Exemplify YMCA ideals and leadership qualities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, work independently, problem‑solve, and possess effective time‑management skills.
  • Strong customer service skills and personal commitment to service and hospitality.
  • Pass a criminal background check (may include fingerprinting) and drug screening check.
  • Pass a Motor Vehicles Record check and have own transportation.
  • Obtain CPR certification within 30 days of employment and maintain it throughout employment.
