Job summary

AMD invites enrolled students for Spring/Summer Co-op or Summer Internship at San Jose, CA, with on-site or hybrid work arrangements. You will collaborate with software engineers to build and maintain applications, learn the full software lifecycle, and develop automation scripts.

You will explore debugging techniques, document technical findings, and gain real-world experience through projects impacting millions of end-users.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a US-based university in an undergraduate degree program (Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related).
• Knowledge of software engineering concepts, C/C++, and scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Linux shell, Perl, Java, JavaScript).
• Familiarity with UNIX/Linux operating systems; databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB); cloud platforms (Azure).
• Experience with web frameworks (Django, Rails, Spring Boot) and markup languages (HTML, XML, XSL).
• Experience with Git, GitHub, Perforce; basic debugging, testing, and defect tracking.
• Interest in embedded systems, PC/CPU architecture, and security concepts (OAuth, TLS).

Responsibilities

• Work closely with software engineers to build and maintain AMD software applications.
• Receive training across the full software development lifecycle from design to testing and deployment.
• Create scripts to automate parts of the development process and improve efficiencies.
• Learn debugging methodologies to identify root causes of software issues.
• Contribute to crafting technical or functional documents and reports as needed.

Job Details

• Locations: San Jose, CA or Santa Clara, CA
• Onsite/Hybrid: This role requires the student to work full time (40 hours a week), in either a hybrid or onsite work structure throughout the duration of the co‑op/intern term

• Spring/Summer Co‑op: January 15, 2027 - August 13, 2027
• Summer Internship:
  • Semester Students: May 24, 2027 - August 13, 2027
  • Quarter Students: June 21, 2027 - September 10, 2027
• Summer/Fall Co‑op:
  • Semester Students: May 24, 2027 - December 10, 2027
  • Quarter Students: June 21, 2027 - December 10, 2027

What You Will Be Doing

• We will assign you responsibilities in which you will work closely with our software engineers to build and maintain our software applications.
• We will provide training on the full software creation process, from design and built to testing and deployment.
• We will encourage you to build scripts that automate some of our software development process.
• We will help you learn debugging methodologies to investigate the root cause of software issues.
• In certain projects we may have your involvement in crafting technical/functional documents and reports as needed.

Who We Are Looking For

• Currently enrolled in a US based University in a Undergrad degree program majoring in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline
• If you have knowledge / experience with any of the following technical skills (or related areas) and are enthusiastic about this role, we strongly encourage you to apply –
