Job summary

Mattel is seeking a Quality Engineering Summer Intern for its El Segundo, CA office. The program focuses on developing future leaders with hands-on mentorship and support from experienced managers and buddies.

You will assist in developing testing protocols, identifying quality issues, and proposing corrective actions while collaborating with Designers and Engineers during early concept stages to ensure safety and reliability of toy products.

Responsibilities

• Assist with development of new testing protocols and procedures to ensure data collection.
• Assist with recommendations on improvements, cost optimization, and capturing data.
• Identify root causes of quality issues and assist in corrective actions implementations.
• Provide feedback to Designers and Engineers during concept stages regarding safety, regulatory and reliability.

The Team:

The Quality Engineering team develop testing protocols and procedures, provide recommendations on improvements, cost optimization, etc., and ensure product delivers on its promise to consumers. They collaborate on projects within the Product Development and Quality division and assist in the engineering and development of current and future toy products.

What Your Impact Will Be:

• Assist with the development of new testing protocols and procedures to ensure proper data collection
• Assist with recommendations on improvements, cost optimization, along with providing and capturing supporting data
• Help with identifying root cause of quality issues and assists in the implementation of corrective and preventative actions
• Provide feedback to Designers and Engineers during initial concept stages to determine feasibility of planned toy related to safety, regulatory, and reliability

• Currently enrolled in an accredited university as a rising senior, graduating in 2028
• Majoring in Industrial, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
• Creative problem solving, strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail and the ability to work in a team environment
• Detail-oriented, organized, methodical, process-oriented thinker
• Effective time manager - able to juggle multiple tasks and competing priorities
• Self-starter capable of working effectively independently or as part of a team
• Possess good mechanical aptitude in the area of generating creative, simple mechanical solutions and troubleshooting existing mechanism
• Intent listening skills with ability to apply learnings
• Ability to be flexible to changing business priorities

*Hourly pay for this role is $26.00/hour at our El Segundo, CA office
