Job summary

Newrez is seeking a summer Software Developer Intern to join our FAST TRACK program. You will work with our developer teams on proprietary applications and gain hands-on experience using AI in software projects.

The role emphasizes collaboration, problem solving, and customer-focused development across the software lifecycle. You will contribute in a Scrum environment and support ongoing projects at our Coppell, Texas office.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a four-year college degree with a scheduled graduation date between Fall 2027 and Spring 2028.
• Degree in related field is preferred.

POSITION SUMMARY

FAST TRACK, Future Achievers Shaping Tomorrow Through Real-world Applied Career Knowledge, our summer internship program is 10 weeks long. The program provides rising seniors the opportunity for professional development by building relationships, gaining corporate experience, learning about our industry, and preparing students with the experience needed to have a rewarding career at our organization. The ideal candidate can see the big picture in any situation, has an entrepreneurial and process improvement mindset and can handle any situation with composure and empathy. We're looking for assertive, well-spoken, and compassionate students who are dependable, service-minded, and results-oriented.

The Software Developer Track Star will fully immerse in the day-to-day activities of our developer teams who are responsible for the development and management of our proprietary applications. The incoming Intern can expect to use AI in their software development projects.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities

• Contribute as a developer in a scrum team.
• Convert written and visual requirements into software code.
• Build software to design and architectural standards.
• Test code to ensure it meets the requirements.
• Support code deployment and post-production maintenance.
• Research and propose best practices, innovative approaches, notable programs of industry peers, etc.
• Performs assigned duties, under direction of experienced personnel, to gain knowledge and experience.
• Performs business analyses and provides recommendations to leadership for business and process changes.
• Receives training and performs duties in several functions in order to become familiar with line and staff functions, management viewpoints, company policies, and best practices.
• Observes experienced team members to acquire knowledge of methods, procedures, and standards required for performance of departmental duties.
• Will be required to attend company sponsored training classes, activities, and events.
• Build relationships with employees and colleagues.
• Ability to effectively and accurately convey information to others.
• Performs related duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• Software code development basics.
• Knowledge of .net, c#, git and SQL.
• Highly developed organizational and project/time-management skills with an ability to manage multiple priorities and meet multiple deadlines.
• Excel in a team-oriented, collaborative environment while contributing to the creation, design, and implementation of value-add business strategies that affect current operating practices and company policy.
• Be able to clearly articulate and present ideas and findings to a varied audience, including the operations staff and senior leadership.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in quantitative analysis.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

• Working on-site at assigned office location.
• Regular and punctual attendance adhering to schedule established by leadership.
• Flexibility to work occasional adjusted work schedules, overtime, and evening and/or weekend hours to meet deadlines or as business needs demand.
• Working in a cubicle hub, maintaining focus on phone calls in a noisy environment within earshot of multiple other conversations.
• Sedentary work in a stationary position at a cubicle for prolonged periods of time.
• Constant repetitive motions required for operating a computer, such as typing and managing phone calls.
• Constantly communicating effectively verbally in English, including accurately exchanging information with others following identification of correct procedures.
