Job summary

MISO invites students pursuing CS/Engineering to join the 2027 Summer Internship Program in Carmel, IN. You will build real features in production, work with AI/LLMs, and participate in data pipelines, dashboards, and automation.

Expect hands-on coding with Python, JavaScript/Angular, and modern toolchains alongside engineers. The program emphasizes collaboration, professional development, and a final presentation of your work.

Qualifications

• Pursuing Computer Science/Engineering or related degree.
• Hands-on Python, JavaScript/Angular, Git/GitHub, CI/CD and containers.
• Familiarity with modern IDEs (VS Code, IntelliJ).
• Interest in AI/LLMs, prompt engineering and RAG.
• Willingness to learn cloud, observability and automation basics.

Responsibilities

• Build real features in production apps and services with engineers.
• Work with Python, GitHub workflows, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Explore AI-enabled engineering and generative AI tasks.
• Contribute to data pipelines, dashboards, and automation.
• Deliver a final project presentation at internship end.

What you'll do as a MISO Intern:

• Build real features in production applications and services-pairing with engineers, shipping code, and learning modern development practices (Angular/TypeScript, Java, CI/CD, containers).
• Explore AIenabled engineering: Python + GitHub workflows, generative AI/LLMs, prompt engineering, RAG, and agent frameworks to automate tasks, improve developer workflows, and power new user experiences.
• Contribute to platform/operations work: data pipelines, observability dashboards, and automated remediation workflows that keep systems healthy and reliable.
• Attend community service events, intern socials, networking activities, and development programming to help you grow your confidence, build relationships, and understand MISO's broader mission.
• Wrap up the summer with a final presentation summarizing your project work, recommendations, and areas of impact.

We are looking for students who...

• Are pursuing Computer Science/Technology, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Engineering, or a related degree.
• Have handson skills in Python, Java, Angular/TypeScript, and are comfortable with Git/GitHub, CI/CD, containers, and modern IDEs (VS Code, IntelliJ, Cursor).
• Are excited by generative AI/LLMs, prompt engineering, RAG, agent frameworks, and applying AI to practical engineering problems.
• Understand (or want to learn) cloud infrastructure concepts, networking basics, observability/monitoring, automation principles, and security fundamentals.
• Show curiosity, accountability, and collaboration-eager to learn unfamiliar codebases and work in team settings to solve real problems.

To be eligible for the program, you must be available to start Wednesday, June 2nd, 2027 and continue through Friday, August 13th, 2027. No VISA sponsorship opportunities, including OPT/CPT.
