Job summary

The MISO Summer Internship Program in Carmel, IN invites graduate students in AI, CS/Tech, Computer Engineering, or Data Science to join a production-focused team for summer 2027. You will work on real AI and software projects, from early prototypes to production-ready tools using Python, GitHub, cloud platforms and modern AI frameworks.

Qualifications

Pursuing a graduate degree in AI, CS/Tech, CS/E, or Data Science.
Strong Python, GitHub, and AI framework familiarity.
Interest in cloud infrastructure, networking, observability and security fundamentals.

Responsibilities

Work on real AI and software projects from early prototypes to production-ready tools using Python, GitHub, cloud platforms, and modern AI frameworks.
Support AI-enabled workflows such as data pipelines, automation, LLM/RAG agents, observability dashboards, or pilot features that test ideas safely.
Collaborate with engineers, product teams, and emerging-tech specialists to refine requirements and evaluate performance.
Attend community events, intern socials, and development programming to grow professionally and understand MISO's mission.
Wrap up the internship with a final presentation summarizing project work and impact.

What you'll do as a MISO Intern:

Work on real AI and software engineering projects that help MISO explore and build new technologies - from early prototypes to productionready tools using Python, GitHub, cloud platforms, and modern AI frameworks.
Support AIenabled workflows such as data pipelines, automation, LLM/RAG agents, observability dashboards, or pilot features that test new ideas quickly and safely.
Collaborate closely with engineers, product teams, and emergingtech specialists to refine requirements, test concepts, evaluate performance, and improve system reliability.
Attend community service events, intern socials, networking activities, and development programming to help you grow your confidence, build relationships, and understand MISO's broader mission.
Wrap up the summer with a final presentation summarizing your project work, recommendations, and areas of impact.

We are looking for students who:

Are pursuing Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science/Technology, Computer Engineering, or Data Science at the undergraduate or graduate level.
Have skills in Python, GitHub, GitHub Copilot, generative AI, LLMs, prompt engineering, RAG, agent frameworks, and automation principles.
Understand or are excited to learn cloud infrastructure concepts, networking basics, observability, and security fundamentals.
Are curious, creative, collaborative learners who enjoy experimenting, solving problems, and exploring new technologies.
Communicate well, ask thoughtful questions, and thrive in handson technical environments.

To be eligible for the program, you must be available to start Wednesday, June 2nd, 2027 and continue through Friday, August 13th, 2027. No VISA sponsorship opportunities, including OPT/CPT.
