This 12-week, project-based internship will provide hands-on experience supporting General Motors’ Sales organization. You will collaborate with regional and headquarters sales teams to analyze market and sales information, identify opportunities to improve sales effectiveness, and develop recommendations that support business priorities. Throughout the internship, you will apply your analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills to projects that create long-term value for General Motors. At the conclusion of the internship, you will present your project work and findings to an executive leadership team.

The Team

General Motors Sales teams work to connect customers with vehicles and services that meet their needs while supporting dealers and strengthening business performance. They use market information, customer insights, and sales performance data to understand opportunities, improve the customer experience, develop effective sales strategies, and support the growth of each brand. You will work with team members who collaborate across regional, headquarters, brand, and dealer organizations to turn insights into practical recommendations and actions. Interns may be placed within one of General Motors’ three Sales brand organizations: Cadillac, Buick GMC, or Chevrolet. Brand placement will be based on business needs, as well as your skills, interests, and development goals.

  • Cadillac: A modern luxury brand focused on redefining luxury craftsmanship, advancing cutting-edge technology, and delivering elevated customer experiences.
  • Buick GMC: Buick delivers attainable premium comfort, while GMC leads with capability, confidence, and professional-grade trucks and sport utility vehicles.
  • Chevrolet: One of America’s most recognizable brands, serving diverse customers through vehicles known for value, performance, capability, and dependability.
What You’ll Do
  • Collaborate with regional and headquarters Sales team members to collect, analyze, and interpret current sales and market information.
  • Identify key drivers of sales effectiveness using national, regional, and local market analysis.
  • Build standardized sales-effectiveness reports and develop recommendations for near-term actions.
  • Support Sales Operations teams with current business needs and project deliverables.
  • Develop an understanding of established sales procedures and approaches, allowing you to exercise independent judgment and make sound professional decisions with guidance from the team.
  • Apply academic knowledge and problem-solving techniques to identify and help resolve issues within the Sales organization.
  • Seek customer feedback and develop a detailed understanding of customer needs, issues, and priorities.
  • Use data and market insights to stay informed about customer preferences, market trends, and customer pain points.
  • Approach setbacks with resilience and a positive attitude by evaluating what happened and identifying opportunities to improve.
  • Present solutions and recommendations to Sales leadership with confidence and clarity.
  • Learn and apply new skills and technologies that can increase sales effectiveness and business impact.
  • Complete a project that creates value for General Motors and present your work and findings to executive leadership.
Required Qualifications
  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business, sales, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Must be graduating between December 2027 and June 2029.
  • Available to work full-time, 40 hours per week, for the duration of the 12-week internship.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving ability.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated leadership through academic, extracurricular, or service activities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain complex subjects to a broad audience.
  • High level of integrity, comfort working through ambiguity, initiative, and self-direction.
