Job summary

Waymo LLC is seeking an intern with a Master’s or PhD in software engineering or related field to work on onboard software integrity. The subteam for this role will be:

The Onboard Software Integrity team’s goal is to build out architectures, tools, and workflows to prevent, identify, and guide fixes to ensure software integrity across Waymo. We focus the organization on critical areas such as the numerical fidelity of ML models across devices, non-determinism in both onboard and offboard software, and overall onboard reliability. We are accountable for the onboard software health while enabling high development velocity.

You will:

You have:

• Currently pursuing a Master's or PhD in software engineering or a related technical field
• Strong programming skills in C++
• Solid foundation in algorithms, data structures, and systems debugging

We prefer:

• Experience with statistical data analysis, anomaly detection, or tracing tools
• Understanding of common sources of software non-determinism (e.g., concurrency/race conditions, floating-point determinism, etc.)
• Experience with graph execution frameworks

Hourly Masters Pay

$70—$70 USD
