Responsibilities

• Perform meaningful, high‑impact Internal Audit projects including control testing and documenting evidence.
• Collaborate with manager, mentor, and cross‑departmental buddy to understand how teams support MISO’s mission.
• Present project work, recommendations, and impact at the internship conclusion.

Are you pursuing a degree in Accounting/Finance, Business/Business Administration, Data Analytics/Data Science, or a related field and searching for a career-igniting summer internship in 2027? Do you want to see your ideas make a real impact—helping MISO keep the lights on for 45 million people by driving innovations that boost system reliability, resilience, and performance, and tackling some of the most complex technical challenges in the energy industry?

Rate: $22 USD per hour

What You’ll Do As a MISO Intern:

• Take on meaningful, high‑impact projects in Internal Audit—performing control testing, evaluating business processes, documenting audit evidence, and contributing to risk mitigation and compliance (including Entity Level and Sarbanes‑Oxley audit exposure).
• Work side‑by‑side with your manager and mentor and connect with a cross‑departmental buddy to expand your network and understand how different teams support MISO’s mission.
• Learn from industry experts during interactive lunch & learn sessions.
• Attend community service events, intern socials, networking activities, and development programming to help you grow your confidence, build relationships, and understand MISO’s broader mission.
• Wrap up the summer with a final presentation summarizing your project work, recommendations, and areas of impact.

We Are Looking For Students Who…

• Are pursuing degrees in Accounting/Finance, Business/Business Administration or Data Analytics/Data Science (Undergraduate or Graduate).
• Have strong critical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
• Are proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Are eager to learn from an experienced audit team and gain exposure to Entity Level and Sarbanes‑Oxley audits.

To be eligible for the program, you must be available to start Wednesday, June 2 nd , 2027 and continue through Friday, August 13 th , 2027. No VISA sponsorship opportunities, including OPT/CPT.
