Job summary

The MISO Summer Internship Program invites students in Business Administration, Computer Science, Data Science, English, or related fields to gain hands-on experience in energy grid operations. You will support virtual customers, work with internal SMEs, and leverage data to improve processes, culminating in a final project presentation.

Expect about 40 hours per week on-site at Carmel, IN, with housing assistance for qualified students and the possibility to extend to part-time remote work

Qualifications

• Pursuing undergrad or graduate studies in related fields.
• Experience or interest in communication, data analysis, customer service, teamwork, or process improvement.
• Comfort with using Dynamics, Power BI, Excel, and similar business systems.

Responsibilities

• Support virtual customers by answering questions and improving their experience with MISO.
• Collaborate with SMEs to understand customer needs and move inquiries toward resolution.
• Review metrics and identify opportunities to simplify or improve processes.
• Attend community service events, intern socials, networking activities, and development programming to grow professionally.
• Deliver final presentation summarizing project work, recommendations, and impact.

What you'll do as a MISO Intern:

• Support a group of virtual customers by helping answer questions, strengthen relationships, and improve their experience with MISO.
• Work with internal subject matter experts (SMEs) across the company to understand customer needs, assist with problemsolving, and keep inquiries moving toward resolution.
• Help the team make better use of data by reviewing metrics, asking thoughtful questions, and identifying opportunities to simplify or improve everyday processes.
• Attend community service events, intern socials, networking activities, and development programming to help you grow your confidence, build relationships, and understand MISO's broader mission.
• Wrap up the summer with a final presentation summarizing your project work, recommendations, and areas of impact.

To be eligible for the program, you must be available to start Wednesday, June 2nd, 2027 and continue through Friday, August 13th, 2027. No VISA sponsorship opportunities, including OPT/CPT.
