Job summary

Suntec Concrete offers a Summer Internship for students pursuing Construction Management or related fields. You will gain hands-on experience in field construction and project planning while mentored by experienced professionals.

You will assist in the execution of cast-in-place footings, grade beams, columns, walls, and slabs, develop plans and budgets, and participate in project scheduling, cost estimation, and quality control to help you grow as a construction professional.

Qualifications

• Pursuing degree in Construction Management or related field.
• Willing to participate in project planning, scheduling and budgeting.
• Interest in field supervision and collaboration with PMs, superintendents and foremen.

Responsibilities

• Assist in project execution of cast-in-place footings, grade beams, columns and slabs.
• Support development and implementation of project plans and budgets.
• Collaborate with engineers, architects and subcontractors to ensure smooth project progress.
• Contribute to scheduling, cost estimation and quality control activities.

• You will be assigned a dedicated mentor who will monitor your progress, provide guidance, and act as your primary point of contact.
• Feedback Collection:
• Regular feedback will be gathered from project managers, superintendents, and foremen on various aspects of your performance, including technical skills, problem-solving abilities, communication, teamwork, and adherence to safety protocols.
• Capstone Exercise:
• In the final week of your internship, you will participate in a capstone exercise—a mock interview for a project similar to the ASC Reno Competition.
• Develop a comprehensive project approach covering project planning, scheduling, budgeting, resource management, quality control, and risk assessment.
• Present your project approach to a panel of Suntec executives, demonstrating your project management abilities and understanding of construction management principles.
• Receive constructive feedback on your presentation, highlighting strengths and areas for improvement.

Requirements

As a Construction Management Intern, you will:

• Assist in Project Execution:
• Participate in the construction of cast-in-place footings, grade beams, columns, walls, slab-on-grade, and slab-on-formed deck.
• Support the development and implementation of project plans, schedules, and budgets.
• Technical Learning and Application:
• Apply theoretical knowledge to practical scenarios, enhancing your understanding of construction management.
• Gain experience in form construction, reinforcement installation, concrete placement, and quality assurance.
• Collaboration and Coordination:
• Work alongside experienced professionals, including project managers, superintendents, and foremen.
• Coordinate with various stakeholders such as engineers, architects, and subcontractors to ensure seamless project execution.
• Project Management Support:
• Assist in project scheduling, cost estimation, and quality control measures.
• Help navigate and resolve challenges related to project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
• Skill Development:
• Develop essential soft skills including communication, leadership, and problem-solving through active participation in projects.
• Engage in teamwork and contribute to a positive and productive work environment.
