Job summary

At MKS Inc., a Mechanical Engineering Intern will partner with R&D/Product Development to support the mechanical engineering effort in laser product development and supporting manufacturing processes. You will report to the mechanical engineering manager.

Responsibilities include designing parts and assemblies in SolidWorks, documenting files in EPDM, Agile and SAP, and supporting validation and safety protocols in a cleanroom environment.

Qualifications

• Sophomore or junior BSME curriculum completed.
• No prior work experience required.
• Familiar with using basic hand tools.
• CAD and drafting experience preferred.

A Day In Your Life At MKS

As a Mechanical Engineering Intern at Spectra-Physics, you will partner with R&D/Product Development group to support the mechanical engineering effort in developing laser products and supporting manufacturing processes. In this role, you will report to the mechanical engineering manager.

You Will Make An Impact By

• Using Solidworks to design mechanical parts, assemblies and drawings.
• Using EPDM, Agile and SAP to properly document model files and drawing files.
• Developing a working knowledge of the design features and materials used in laser products.
• Collaborating with the other engineering groups to develop products and processes
• Supporting the validation/qualification processes of mechanical assemblies/fixtures/tools.
• Adhering to laser safety and cleanroom protocols.

Skills You Bring

• Completion of sophomore or junior curriculum of a BSME program.
• No prior work experience required
• Must be familiar with the use of basic hand tools
• CAD/drafting experience preferred

Physical Demands And Working Conditions

• Physical Demand: Must be comfortable working in a cleanroom. (Working in the cleanroom will be required on rare occasion.)

Compensation And Benefits

Hourly Pay Range: $23.00 to $31.00 per hour. This range is a good faith estimate of the expected salary range for this position, based on a wide range of factors including qualifications, experience and training, operational and business needs and other considerations permitted by law. At MKS, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role.

Benefits: MKS offers a benefits package for interns/co-ops working at least 20 hours per week, including 11 paid holidays, sick time, and 15 paid vacation days accrued on a biweekly basis.
