Job summary

MKS Instruments is seeking an exceptional Engineering/Development Co‑op intern to join the team in the OSP division. You will support development of new technologies, report to a supervisor within Engineering, and gain hands‑on exposure to a wide range of technical activities during the 4‑month internship from January 2027 to April 2027.

• Enrolled in a Bachelor’s Degree program in Engineering, Mechatronics, Physics or relevant majors.
• Excellent technical, analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to details.
• Comfort with hardware, lab equipment and hands-on troubleshooting.
• Programming experience in Python, LabVIEW or MATLAB.

Responsibilities

• Participate in design, implementation and analysis of experiments for precision temperature and position sensing.
• Design, simulation, construction and validation of new test equipment.
• Set up and calibration of optical and thermal characterization equipment.
• Develop and maintain test documentation, including test plans, procedures and reports.
• Use statistical analysis software to analyze data and draw conclusions.

MKS Instruments is seeking an exceptional Engineering/Development Co-op intern to join the team. In this position, you will play a key role in supporting the development of new technologies and products. The intern will report to a supervisor within the Engineering group and will complete tasks as outlined below during their tenure. This position offers an outstanding opportunity for growth and development through hands‑on exposure to a wide range of technical activities, including one or more of the following:

Intern/Co-op Term: This is a 4-month internship/co-op from January 2027 to April 2027. Candidates must be available for the entire duration of the assignment.

• Participating in the design, implementation and analysis of experiments to evaluate and understand the characteristics of precision temperature and position sensing technology and products.
• Participating in the design, simulation, construction and validation of new test equipment.
• Learning about and participate in the set up and calibration of optical and thermal characterization equipment.
• Developing and maintain test documentation, including test plans, test procedures, and test reports.
• Using statistical analysis software to analyze data and draw data-based conclusions.

Skills You Bring

• Enrolled in a Bachelor’s Degree program in Engineering, Mechatronics, Physics or relevant majors.
• Excellent technical, analytical, problem-solving skills, with systematic analytical interpretation of data and strong attention to details.
• Good comfort level with hardware, lab equipment and hands on troubleshooting.
• Programming, for example using Python, LabView or MATLAB.

Compensation And Benefits

Salary Pay Range: $32,000 - 52,000 pro-rated to the term of your contract. This range is a reasonable expectation of pay for this position, based on a wide range of factors including qualifications, experience, education, training, operational and business needs and other considerations. At MKS, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the role.
