Sanofi is seeking a 2027 Spring Co-op Bioinformatic Digital Data Scientist to support the Global Immunology team (Early-Stage Immunology) at its Waltham, MA office. This 6-month co-op focuses on processing immunology and vaccine research datasets, ensuring data quality and reproducibility, and using statistical and computational methods to generate insights.
Role Overview
As a co-op student, you will contribute to a research environment serving Immunology and Vaccines organizations. The work includes supporting complex electronic notebook data entries, analyzing biological datasets, developing computational approaches, and applying statistical and algorithmic techniques to help discover insights.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement computational pipelines and analytical methods for large-scale immunological datasets from vaccine research and development programs.
- Perform quality checks on research data entries in electronic notebooks.
- Analyze and interpret complex biological data from genomic sequencing, proteomics, and immunological assays.
- Complete training and apply expertise in programming languages such as Python and R, statistical analysis tools, and bioinformatics software for high-throughput data processing and analysis.
- Set best practices for computational analysis and support robust documentation standards.
- Contribute to code maintenance and pipeline optimization as required.
- Manage data visualization and statistical analysis, and document work using computational notebooks and version control systems.
- Attend project and group meetings, present analytical results, and contribute to scientific discussions.
- May participate in implementing analytical pipelines for pre-clinical immunology groups.
- Work within a collaborative research environment, including training in relevant computational tools, databases, and platforms used in vaccine research and development.
Required Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Must be permanently authorized to work in the U.S. and not require sponsorship of an employment visa (such as H-1B or a green card) at the time of application or in the future.
- Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university for the full duration of the co-op/internship.
- Ability to relocate to the office location and work 40 hours/week, Monday to Friday for the full co-op/internship term.
- Coursework in statistics, programming, and biological sciences.
- Basic programming skills in at least one language: Python, R, or similar.
- Understanding of biological concepts, particularly immunology or related fields.
- Nice to have: experience with immunological assay data such as ELISA and cell-based assays.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient English written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

Compensation
The hourly salary range is $27.00 - $35.00. Compensation will be determined commensurate with demonstrated experience.
