USGA is seeking an Operations Intern for the 2027 U.S. Women's Open, based at Inverness Club in Toledo, OH. You will support on-site facilities setup, staff arrivals, vendor requests, and the distribution of materials across the venue to ensure smooth operations.

The internship runs mid-May to mid-June 2027. Pay is $16.00 per hour, with housing provided for the duration. Candidates should be able to lift up to 50 lbs, drive a golf cart, and commit to long hours, including holidays and weekends,

Qualifications

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work safely.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to drive a golf cart.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Comfort with on-site setup and teardown of event facilities.
  • Willingness to work long hours, including holidays and weekends.
  • Prior experience in event operations is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with preparation and setup of on-site facilities.
  • Distribute and set up equipment for staff arrivals.
  • Facilitate vendor and departmental requests.
  • Deliver items across the property with the package distribution team.
  • Assist tear-down and clean-up after the Championship.
  • Install, remove and store championship equipment.
  • Support other U.S. Women's Open departments as needed.

About this role:

The 2027 Short-Term U.S. Women's Open Operations Intern role offers you the ability to unlock your potential in operations management while working with a diverse group of curious and passionate trailblazers who are the future of the USGA. Whether just getting started in operations management or continuing your education, this position allows individuals to unlock their potential by contributing to the success of the U.S. Women’s Open Championship in a meaningful way.To thrive in this position, be ready to bring your passion for golf, sports management, and hospitality to new heights while also learning to support sustainable golf course management practices.

What you'll do:
  • Assist USGA staff with the preparation and set-up of on-site facilities (i.e., corporate hospitality, media center, vendor compounds, volunteer village, office trailers, etc.)
  • Prepare for staff arrivals by distributing and setting up equipment (chairs, mini-fridges, furniture, office equipment, tables, water coolers, picnic tables, golf carts, etc.
  • Facilitate vendor/USGA departmental requests promptly.
  • Work with the package distribution team to deliver items throughout the property.
  • Assist vendors and USGA staff with tear-down and clean-up procedures following the completion of the Championship.
  • Work with USGA staff on installation, removal, and storage of Championship equipment
  • Assist other U.S. Women’s Open departments as necessary.
Where you'll be:

This internship is based at Inverness Club in Toledo, OH. Housing will be provided for the duration of the position.

Pay: $16.00/hr, subject to applicable overtime laws.

Internship Dates: Mid-May, 2027, through Mid-June, 2027

What you bring:
  • Able to lift heavy items (up to 50lbs), while practicing Safe Lifting and/or with the assistance of others.
  • Able to set and meet high work standards for self and others while accomplishing tasks quickly and thoroughly.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive a golf cart.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively express ideas and interact with a wide array of individuals in an exemplary manner consistent with USGA values.
  • Able to work well under pressure and assume full responsibility for projects.
  • Able to read and interpret manuals, diagrams, and schematics with strong attention to all details of a project.
  • Exceptional organizational skills.
  • Able to think logically and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Able to assemble, disassemble, repair, or modify structures and work with various tools and equipment (including but not limited to drills, hammers, nails, screwdrivers, box cutters, knives, trucks/golf carts/etc.)
  • Ensures a neat, clean, and safe work environment by cleaning work areas and discarding materials following USGA sustainability guidelines.
  • Able to work long and strenuous hours, including holidays and weekends.
  • Compliance with all USGA safety and operations policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Prior experience in event operations is a plus.
