Job summary

LyondellBasell is seeking a People & Culture (Human Resources) Intern in Houston, TX. This hands-on role offers exposure to the full spectrum of HR functions, from recruiting and onboarding to benefits and payroll, under experienced HR leadership.

The internship runs May through August and aims to develop practical HR skills in a fast-paced environment, with opportunities to influence HR strategy and daily operations.

Qualifications

• Must be pursuing a Master's degree in Human Resources or related field.
• Overall GPA of 3.0 or greater.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer literacy.

Responsibilities

• Project Management: collaborate with HR leadership on key initiatives such as compliance, recruiting, onboarding and talent management.
• Recruiting & Hiring: assist with posting openings, reviewing resumes, and coordinating interviews.
• HR Compliance & Employment Law: support application of employment laws and confidentiality.
• Employee Benefits & Payroll: assist with enrollments and payroll system awareness.

What You Can Expect

• Project Management: Collaborate with the HR Director and HR Manager on key projects related to compliance, recruiting, onboarding, and talent management. Your contributions will directly influence our HR strategy.
• Recruiting & Hiring: Get hands‑on experience in the recruiting process by posting job openings, reviewing resumes, and coordinating the interview process. You’ll play a pivotal role in bringing new talent into our organization.
• HR Compliance & Employment Law: Learn about the application of employment laws, especially in areas like employment eligibility and confidentiality. You’ll help ensure that our HR practices are legally compliant and efficient.
• Employee Benefits & Payroll: Support the management of employee benefits, assisting with new hire enrollments and troubleshooting issues. You’ll also learn about payroll systems and how they integrate with HR processes.

What We’re Looking For

• Currently pursuing a Master's degree in Human Resources or related field
• Overall GPA of 3.0 or greater.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship for employment visa status.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and internet application is essential. You should also be able to prioritize tasks and manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
