Job summary

LyondellBasell Industries in Westlake, LA is seeking an entry-level Mechanical Engineer to support plant reliability, maintenance, and major capital projects. You will join a team that drives efficiency, safety, and innovation across processes, enabling sustainable solutions for everyday life.

Responsibilities include reliability improvements, technical support, and leading large-scale projects from concept through construction. A strong academic record and US work authorization are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent degree from an accredited university.
• Overall GPA of 3.0 or greater.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship for employment visa status.

• Reliability: proactively support development and implementation of ideas to improve plant reliability.
• Specialty: provide corporate-level technical engineering support to plant engineering and capital project groups.
• Maintenance: provide daily engineering support and technical assistance on repairs to plant equipment.
• Project Engineering: lead multi-disciplinary teams to develop and implement large projects, manage budget and timeline.

Reliability Engineer:

• Proactively support the development and implementation of ideas to improve plant reliability.
• Work to reduce maintenance costs and increase operational efficiency.

Specialty Engineer:

• Provide corporate-level technical engineering support to plant engineering and capital project groups.
• Develop standards for mechanical equipment and implement long-term reliability improvement programs.

Maintenance Engineer:

• Provide daily engineering support and technical assistance on repairs to plant equipment.
• Ensure projects comply with health, safety, and environmental requirements.

Project Engineering:

• Lead multi-disciplinary teams to develop and implement large projects.
• Manage all aspects of a project, from concept through construction.
• Interface with outside companies for engineering, purchasing of materials, and construction.
• Monitor activities to ensure they meet project goals and adhere to company standards.
• Maintain responsibility for the project budget and timeline.
