Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking System Engineers to join the Aeronautics Systems Intern Program. This internship is located in multiple CA and ND sites and offers hands-on experience with engineering tasks under supervision.

Qualified candidates are enrolled full-time in a STEM degree, available for 10 weeks in summer 2027, and must be able to obtain a U.S. government security clearance (U.S. citizenship required). Relocation assistance may be available.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled full-time in a college/university and will be enrolled Fall 2027.
  • Majoring in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) degree.
  • Available to work full-time (40 hours/week) for at least 10 weeks during summer 2027.
  • Able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities

  • Construct, troubleshoot, calibrate, adjust, test, and maintain equipment.
  • Work from engineering drawings and written or verbal instructions.
  • Operate related equipment; conduct tests and report data in prescribed format.
  • Perform calibration and alignment checks; make adjustments, modifications, and replacements as directed.
  • Prepare prescribed compounds and solutions.

Position Overview

Northrop Grumman is seeking System Engineers to join the Aeronautics Systems Intern Program. This position will be located in one of the following locations:

  • Palmdale, CA
  • Redondo Beach, CA
  • El Segundo, CA
  • Rancho Bernardo, CA
  • Camarillo, CA
  • Emerado, ND

The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman’s Systems Engineering Organization. The selected candidate will work in a dynamic people-focused environment where he/she will interact with users, customers and other developers. As an intern, you’ll participate in a summer internship program to develop competencies in a variety of engineering specializations that may include:

  • Construct, troubleshoot, calibrate, adjust, test, and maintain equipment, components, devices, or systems.
  • Work from engineering drawings and written or verbal instructions.
  • Operate related equipment; conduct tests and report data in prescribed format.
  • Perform calibration and alignment checks; make adjustments, modifications, and replacements as directed.
  • Prepare prescribed compounds and solutions.
Basic Qualifications
  • Be enrolled full-time and pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited college/university AND will be enrolled full time in Fall 2027.
  • Be majoring in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) degree.
  • Be available to work full-time (40 hours per week) for at least 10 weeks during summer 2027.
  • Be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite) as well as Program Special access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.25/4.0 or higher.
  • Previous internship/co‑op experience, leadership – & teamwork capabilities, interpersonal communication skills, and activities (professional/community/extracurricular).
Intern Pay Range
  • Undergraduate degrees (Including graduating students planning on attending/enrolled in a full-time Master’s program): $18.50 to $39.00 per hour
  • Master’s: $26.25 to $48.00 per hour

They may also be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
