Job summary

Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking Electrical Engineers to join the Space Intern Program in Dulles, VA for summer 2027. Interns will perform basic engineering tasks, verify designs, and develop technical documentation as part of a dynamic team.

Applicants must be full-time STEM students eligible for a summer internship, U.S. citizens, and ready to work on-site in a collaborative environment with opportunities to learn from industry experts.

Qualifications

  • Be a student enrolled full-time and pursuing a bachelor’s/master's degree or higher from an accredited college/university and will be enrolled in Fall 2027.
  • Be majoring in or having majored in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM).
  • Be available to work full-time on-site (40 hours per week) for at least 10 weeks during summer 2027.
  • Be a U.S. citizen

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic engineering design, development, analysis, experimentation, test and/or product assurance tasks of limited complexity for assigned portions of a project.
  • Ensure tasks meet cost, quality, schedule, and performance requirements.
  • Analyze and interpret design specifications, drawings, documentation, models, and/or test results to ensure technical designs comply with applicable engineering standards, military specifications, and product requirements.
  • Rapidly troubleshoot and isolate system level problems discovered during test activities or production and determine root-cause including design defects and production/supplier issues and recommend near-term workaround.
  • Perform verification testing and/or data collection to support the implementation of corrective actions including technical analysis, calculations, and evaluation of results using specialized equipment and/or computer programs.
  • Develop and write technical documentation, make revisions to existing documentation, and provide input to technical papers or presentations.

Space Intern Program

Northrop Grumman is seeking Electrical Engineers to join the Space Intern Program.

This position will be located in Dulles, VA.

Key Responsibilities

Basic Qualifications
  • Be a student who is enrolled full-time and pursuing a bachelor’s/master's degree or higher from an accredited college/university and will be enrolled full time in Fall 2027
  • Be majoring in or having majored in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) degree.
  • Be available to work full-time on-site (40 hours per week) for at least 10 weeks during summer 2027
  • Be a U.S. citizen
Preferred Qualifications
  • Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.7 out of 4.0 or higher
  • Previous internship/co‑op experience, leadership & teamwork capabilities, interpersonal communication skills, and activities (professional/community/extracurricular).
Intern Pay Range – Dulles, VA

Bachelor’s: $26.75 - $32.50

Master’s: $38.00 - $40.00 per hour

Primary Level Salary Range: $26.75 - $40.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
