Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking Systems Engineers for an internship opportunity in Gilbert, AZ. The candidate will join the Western Region Systems Engineering directorate and perform analyses across the full system lifecycle to convert customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

The role requires full-time availability for at least 10 weeks in Summer 2027, U.S. citizenship, and the ability to obtain a security clearance. A strong STEM background with a GPA above 3.0 is preferred.

Qualifications

• Be a student enrolled full-time pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited college/university and will be enrolled full time in Fall 2027.
• Be majoring in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) degree.
• Be available to work full-time (40 hours per week) for at least 10 weeks during summer 2027.
• Be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite) as well as Program Special access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite).

Responsibilities

• Perform analyses at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal.
• Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
• Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman’s Western Region Systems Engineering directorate. The selected candidate will perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. In this role, the selected candidate will be expected to: Perform analyses at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Basic Qualifications

A candidate must meet ALL of the below criteria. Intern Pay Range

Bachelor’s: $23 to $28 per hour

Master’s: $32.75 to $34.50 per hour

At Northrop Grumman, our internship pay rates are standardized and take into account three main factors: the anticipated graduation date of the individual, the cost of labor of the geographic location, and whether the internship is considered technical or administrative.
