Job summary

JPMorgan Natural Capital in Oregon is seeking a Forestry Field Office Intern for a 10-week, full-time summer program starting June 2027. You'll work alongside experienced forestry professionals, supporting harvest planning, silviculture, inventory, land stewardship, and emerging forestry technologies while gaining hands-on field experience outdoors.

Responsibilities include assisting with planning, data collection, GIS and drone operations, timber cruising, and environmental stewardship.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited Associate's or Bachelor's degree program in Forestry or related field.
• Basic understanding of forest management, silviculture, timber harvesting, and inventory concepts.
• Proficiency with GPS and geospatial data applications.
• Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Job description

Build your forestry career through meaningful field experience with JPMorgan Natural Capital, formerly known as Campbell Global, a JPMorganChaseCompany. You'll work alongside experienced forestry professionals managing sustainably invested forestlands while gaining exposure to harvest planning, silviculture, forest inventory, land stewardship, and emerging forestry technologies.

As a 2027 Forestry Field Office Intern within JPMorgan Natural Capital, you will contribute to the active management of timberland assets across a variety of ownership objectives. You will gain hands-on experience supporting forest operations, learning industry best practices, and utilizing technology to help deliver sustainable forest management solutions. This internship offers a unique opportunity to work outdoors, collaborate with experienced professionals, and develop practical skills that can be applied across multiple forestry disciplines.

The program is designed to provide a fixed-term, full-time experience beginning in early June 2027 for up to 10 weeks.

Job responsibilities

• Support harvest unit layout, planning, administration, and operational monitoring activities
• Assist with silviculture planning, implementation, and regeneration program administration
• Utilize forestry technologies including GIS, GPS, mobile data collection tools, and drone operations
• Participate in timber cruising, inventory collection, auditing, and regeneration surveys
• Support road construction, maintenance, and access management activities
• Assist with environmental stewardship, sustainability, and ESG-related initiatives
• Contribute to recreation management and land stewardship projects
• Monitor field activities and communicate environmental, operational, or safety concerns to appropriate team members
• Collect, organize, and maintain forestry and operational data to support decision-making
• Collaborate with forestry professionals on special projects and business initiatives
• Perform additional duties and field assignments as needed

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Currently enrolled in an accredited Associate's or Bachelor's degree program in Forestry, Forest Management, Natural Resources, or a related field with a forestry concentration
• Basic understanding of forest management, silviculture, timber harvesting practices, and forest inventory concepts
• Basic knowledge of GPS technology and geospatial data applications
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to and from the assigned field office
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and rugged terrain for extended periods
• Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

• Previous forestry, natural resources, or land management experience
• Completion of Forest Measurements, Forest Inventory, or a comparable forestry course
• Experience using GIS software, GPS equipment, or drone technology
• Demonstrated interest in sustainable forestry, forest operations, or timberland management
• Familiarity with data collection and field mapping applications
• Proficiency with AI-powered productivity and research tools, with the ability to apply them responsibly to support analysis, communication, and problem-solving

• You must be able to report to your designated office location on your start date.
