Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Software Engineering Intern to join the Defense Systems Intern Program in Manhattan Beach, CA. This internship develops competencies across engineering specializations and involves hands-on work from day one.

Qualified students are enrolled full-time in STEM, available for 10 weeks in Summer 2027, and able to obtain U.S. government security clearance. The program offers exposure to weapon systems, testing, and calibration activities.

Qualifications

• Be enrolled full-time in Fall2026 for undergraduate or graduate program.
• Major in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math).
• Be available to work full-time (40 hours per week) for at least 10 weeks during Summer2027.
• Be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite).

Responsibilities

• Construct, troubleshoot, calibrate, adjust, test, and maintain equipment, components, devices, or systems.
• Work from engineering drawings and written or verbal instructions.
• Operate related equipment; conduct tests and report data in prescribed format.
• Perform calibration and alignment checks; make adjustments, modifications, and replacements as directed.
• Prepare prescribed compounds and solutions.

Northrop Grumman is seeking Software Engineering Intern to join the Defense Systems Intern Program.

This position will be located in Manhattan Beach, CA. The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman’s Command and Control Weapons Division. As an intern, you’ll participate in a summer internship program to develop competencies in a variety of engineering specializations that may include:

• Construct, troubleshoot, calibrate, adjust, test, and maintain equipment, components, devices, or systems.
• Work from engineering drawings and written or verbal instructions.
• Operate related equipment; conduct tests and report data in prescribed format.
• Perform calibration and alignment checks; make adjustments, modifications, and replacements as directed.
• Prepare prescribed compounds and solutions.

Basic Qualifications

• Be enrolled full-time and pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited college/university AND will be enrolled full time in Fall2026
• Be majoring in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) degree.
• Be available to work full-time (40 hours per week) for at least 10 weeks during Summer2027.
• Be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite) as well as Program Special access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite).

Preferred Qualifications

• Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.25/4.0 or higher.
• Previous internship/co-op experience, leadership & teamwork capabilities, interpersonal communication skills, and activities (professional/community/extracurricular).

Intern Pay Range

Undergraduate degrees (Including graduating students planning on attending/enrolled in a full-time Master’s program): $18.50 - $33.50 Master’s: $21.50 - $48.00 Campusjobs Primary Level Salary Range: $0.00 - $0.00.
