Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Software Engineer internship for the Space Systems Sector. The position targets students who will be enrolled for Fall 2027 and pursuing a STEM degree, with a full-time summer commitment (about 10 weeks) and eligibility for a U.S.

government security clearance. The internship emphasizes hands-on work from engineering drawings, calibration, and testing of electronic to optical systems, with opportunities to gain real-world experience in a leading defense contractor

Qualifications

  • Be a student enrolled full-time pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree and will be enrolled full time in Fall 2027.
  • Majoring in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) degree.
  • Be available to work full-time (40 hours per week) for at least 10 weeks during summer 2027.
  • Be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite) as well as Program Special access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite)
  • Preferred: overall GPA of 3.00/4.0 or higher.

  • Performs a variety of duties in the electronic, mechanical, electromechanical, or optical areas.
  • Constructs, troubleshoots, calibrates, adjusts, tests, and maintains equipment, components, devices, or systems.
  • Works from engineering drawings and written or verbal instructions.
  • Operates related equipment; conducts tests and reports data in prescribed format.
  • Performs calibration and alignment checks; makes adjustments, modifications, and replacements as directed; prepares prescribed compounds and solutions.
  • Exclude technicians working in Production or Quality Assurance

Northrop Grumman is seeking Software Engineers for an internship opportunity. This position will be located at our Space Systems Sector.

Roles and Responsibilities

Basic Qualifications

A candidate must meet ALL of the below criteria. The candidate must:

  • Be a student who is enrolled full-time and pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited college/university and will be enrolled full time in Fall 2027
  • Be majoring in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) degree.
  • Be available to work full-time (40 hours per week) for at least 10 weeks during summer 2027.
  • Be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite) as well as Program Special access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite)

  • Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.00/4.0 or higher

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
