Job summary

Hanson Professional Services Inc. is seeking a Structural Engineering Intern to work with experienced engineers on infrastructure and facility projects. You will contribute to meaningful engineering assignments and develop technical and professional skills as part of project teams.

Interns work full-time during the internship and may travel to project sites or other Hanson offices. Undergraduate students pursuing a structural emphasis in Civil Engineering are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a BS degree in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis or Architectural Engineering.
• Prefer juniors or students with at least 60 credit hours toward degree.
• Demonstrated interest in structural engineering and consulting.

Responsibilities

• Assist engineers with structural analysis and design calculations.
• Support preparation of engineering reports, documents and plan production.
• Use industry-standard engineering software and tools.
• Review plans, specifications and construction documents.

This internship offers hands-on experience working alongside experienced structural engineers on a variety of infrastructure and facility projects. Interns become integral members of project teams, contribute to meaningful engineering assignments, and develop technical and professional skills.

A Day in the Life of a Structural Engineering Intern

As a Structural Engineering Intern, you may:

• Assist engineers with structural analysis and design calculations.
• Support the preparation of engineering reports, technical documents, and plan production.
• Utilize industry-standard engineering software and tools.
• Review plans, specifications, and construction documents.
• Participate in project meetings and coordination activities.
• Conduct research and gather technical information to support project development.
• Assist with field investigations, site visits, and construction observations, as needed.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on transportation, aviation, water, industrial, and municipal projects.
• Build professional relationships through networking events, training opportunities, and intern development activities.

Interns will be expected to work a full-time schedule during the internship period and may occasionally travel to project sites, client locations, or other Hanson offices.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be actively pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis, Architectural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline from an accredited college or university. Preferred candidates will have completed their junior year or have successfully completed at least 60 credit hours applicable toward their degree program.

• Previous internship, co-op, research, leadership, or extracurricular involvement is a plus.

Salary Range

Undergraduate Students: $21.00 - $30.00 per hour
