Hanson Professional Services Inc. in Jacksonville seeks a Civil Engineering intern. The role plans, designs and prepares documents for commercial, industrial, municipal and educational site projects.

You will use AutoCAD Civil 3D, perform grading and drainage modeling, and support field investigations with the team. Ideal candidates are actively enrolled in an ABET-accredited civil engineering program, have strong communication and analytical skills, and can work on site in Jacksonville.

Qualifications

• Must have completed sophomore year and be enrolled in a 4-year college.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office; valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Prepare plans, designs, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Gather data for reports, studies, and permit applications.
• Perform calculations related to grading, drainage, and site development.
• Use AutoCAD Civil 3D and related design tools for modeling.
• Conduct field investigations and verify existing conditions.
• Observe construction operations and assist with construction phase services.
• Draft memoranda, letters, or general reports; maintain records.

Our Jacksonville Site Civil Engineering discipline includes Civil Engineers who plan, design, and prepare construction documents for a variety of public and private development projects. Typical projects include commercial, industrial, municipal, educational, and recreational site developments. Design responsibilities may include site layout, grading and drainage, stormwater management systems, utility infrastructure, erosion and sediment control, roadway and parking lot design, permitting support, and construction documentation. Software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D and related design tools is often used for this work, including 3D site modeling and earthwork analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

• Preparing plans, designs, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Gathering and/or providing data for the preparation of engineering reports, studies, and permit applications.
• Performing and/or reviewing calculations related to grading, drainage, stormwater management, utilities, and site development.
• Utilizing engineering software packages such as AutoCAD Civil 3D and related design tools.
• Conducting field investigations and/or site visits to gather information and verify existing conditions.
• Documenting and/or observing construction operations and assisting with construction phase services.
• Performing related duties such as writing memoranda, letters, or general reports; collecting and correlating engineering data; maintaining records; and attending meetings.

Qualifications:

Interns must be actively enrolled in an ABET-accredited civil engineering program. The ideal candidate will have successfully completed their sophomore year and be actively enrolled in a 4-year college or university.

The hourly range for this position is $21 - $26 per hour for undergraduates. $30 - $40 per hour for postgraduates.
