Job summary

Hanson seeks interns for its Jacksonville Site Civil Engineering discipline to assist in planning, designing, and preparing documents for public and private developments. You'll work on site layout, drainage, utilities, and permitting, using AutoCAD Civil 3D and related tools.

The role requires active enrollment in an ABET-accredited civil engineering program, with sophomore year completed preferred. Strong communication and analytical skills, plus a valid driver’s license, are expected.

Qualifications

• Interns must be actively enrolled in an ABET-accredited civil engineering program.
• Ideal candidate will have completed their sophomore year and be enrolled in a 4-year college or university.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Preparing plans, designs, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Gathering data for engineering reports, studies, and permit applications.
• Performing calculations related to grading, drainage, stormwater management, utilities, and site development.
• Utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3D and related design tools.
• Conducting field investigations and site visits to verify conditions.
• Documenting construction operations and assisting with construction phase services.
• Writing memoranda, letters, or general reports; compiling engineering data and maintaining records.

Our Jacksonville Site Civil Engineering discipline includes Civil Engineers who plan, design, and prepare construction documents for a variety of public and private development projects. Typical projects include commercial, industrial, municipal, educational, and recreational site developments. Design responsibilities may include site layout, grading and drainage, stormwater management systems, utility infrastructure, erosion and sediment control, roadway and parking lot design, permitting support, and construction documentation. Software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D and related design tools is often used for this work, including 3D site modeling and earthwork analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

• Preparing plans, designs, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Gathering and/or providing data for the preparation of engineering reports, studies, and permit applications.
• Performing and/or reviewing calculations related to grading, drainage, stormwater management, utilities, and site development.
• Utilizing engineering software packages such as AutoCAD Civil 3D and related design tools.
• Conducting field investigations and/or site visits to gather information and verify existing conditions.
• Documenting and/or observing construction operations and assisting with construction phase services.
• Performing related duties such as writing memoranda, letters, or general reports; collecting and correlating engineering data; maintaining records; and attending meetings.

Qualifications:

Interns must be actively enrolled in an ABET-accredited civil engineering program. The ideal candidate will have successfully completed their sophomore year and be actively enrolled in a 4-year college or university.

The hourly range for this position is $21 - $26 per hour for undergraduates. $30 - $40 per hour for postgraduates.
