Job summary

Lemonbuyback.com (Law Offices of Jon Jacobs) in California is seeking an associate attorney to support the entire lemon law litigation lifecycle, from discovery to trial. You will draft complaints, handle discovery, attend hearings, negotiate settlements, and communicate with clients under senior attorney guidance in a high-volume environment.

A J.D. and California Bar admission are preferred; bilingual Spanish is a plus.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• California State Bar admission preferred.
• Civil litigation experience or moot court is a plus.
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
• Strong writing and communication skills.
• Ability to work remotely and independently.
• Knowledge of lemon law/consumer protection is a plus.
• Detail-oriented with good deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Assist in discovery, draft complaints, attend hearings, communicate with clients, negotiate settlements and all other aspects of litigation.
• Draft complaints, pleadings, motions, and other legal documents.
• Propound and respond to written discovery, including interrogatories and requests for production/admission.
• Prepare for and attend hearings, depositions, mediations, and trials with senior attorneys.
• Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel.
• Negotiate settlements and evaluate case value.
• Maintain organized case files and correspondence.
• Stay current with lemon law and California decisions affecting cases.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• As an associate attorney at our firm, you will play a crucial role in providing legal support to our clients throughout the entire litigation process. You will be responsible for assisting in various legal activities, including but not limited to discovery, drafting complaints, attending hearings, communicating with clients, negotiating settlements and all other aspects of litigation.
• Draftcomplaints, pleadings, motions, and other legal documents.
• Propound and respond to written discovery, including drafting and reviewing interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admission.
• Prepare for and attend hearings, depositions, mediations, and trials in collaboration with senior attorneys.
• Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel professionally and effectively.
• Negotiate settlements and evaluate case value.
• Maintain organized and up-to-date case files, documents, and correspondence.
• Stay current with relevant laws, regulations, and court decisions affecting lemon law cases in California.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
• California State Bar admission preferred
• Prior civil litigation experience, judicial clerkship, or mock trial/moot court experience is a plus but not required
• Bilingual in Spanish is highly preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with LexisNexis or Westlaw and online document management systems.
• Detail-oriented with exceptional writing and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a remote employee.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with clients, colleagues, and external parties.
• Knowledge of lemon law, consumer protection law, and/or automobiles is a plus
• High level of professionalism and ethical standards.
• Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously and meet deadlines under pressure.
• Willingness to continue learning and stay updated with changes in Lemon Law.
• Sales and customer service experience is a plus.

Pay Range

$90,000 - $100,000, depending on experience. Plus Commission/Bonus Opportunities and Benefits.
