Saint Paul Public Schools offers a lead custodial-engineer role overseeing interior and grounds maintenance at a large school facility. You will supervise a custodial crew, operate boilers and HVAC equipment, and ensure safe practice and compliance with district rules.
The position requires a High School Diploma or GED, Minnesota First Class Boiler License, and ability to manage preventive maintenance and safety training for staff. It is a full-time, 12-month role based in Saint Paul, MN.
Performs highly responsible lead custodial and routine maintenance work involving the interior, immediate grounds, and mechanical system of a large elementary school, the service facility, or a small to medium‑sized junior high school; and performs related duties as required.
Works under the general, technical, and administrative supervision of a Facility Operations Coordinator; receives some administrative supervision from a school principal.
Plans, assigns, leads, and reviews the work of a crew of lower-level custodial employees assigned to a specific school district facility.
Must possess a High School Diploma or GED Certificate and two years of experience as a Custodian Engineer 2 or equivalent. Must possess and retain a First Class Boiler License issued by the State of Minnesota. Pool certification will be required within six months of appointment if placed in a building with a pool.
This is a 12‑month position working 40 hours per week. The pay rate for this position is $31.62 per hour. The full salary schedule is listed in the Custodians contract. Formal credential evaluation is required for post‑secondary education completed outside of the United States.
