Job description

Elementary School Virtual Art, Music and Physical Education Adjunct Educator (Fall Semester)

Starting Date: Aug 18, 2026

Location: Springfield, Missouri (Launch)

General Purpose

This position will support the instructional program by developing student success in academics and/or skills; supervising students in online settings; collaborating with teachers, professional staff, and administrators to deliver pre‑designed curriculum and coursework; and responding to inquiries from students’ parents or guardians regarding instructional program and student progress. Launch teachers are expected to promote online learning opportunities to internal and external stakeholders.

Essential Job Functions

• Facilitate student learning by creating a learning environment, integrating technology, arranging field trips, organizing age‑appropriate activities, and implementing defined lesson plans to achieve success in academic, interpersonal, and daily living skills.
• Instruct students to improve academic and/or skill proficiency through a defined course of study.
• Demonstrate methods required to perform classroom and/or subject‑specific assignments to provide an effective program that addresses individual student requirements.
• Advise parents/legal guardians on student progress, communicate expectations, students’ achievements, and methods for improvement; analyze test data to enhance student achievement.
• Assess student progress toward objectives, expectations, and goals, and provide feedback to students, parents, and administration.
• Collaborate with instructional staff, other school personnel, parents, and community resources to improve overall quality of student outcomes and achieve classroom objectives in support of the school improvement plan.
• Maintain confidential and non‑confidential records (e.g., grades, test scores) for up‑to‑date information and/or historical reference in accordance with established guidelines and legal requirements.
• Manage student behavior to provide a safe and optimal learning environment.
• Monitor students in various educational environments (e.g., classroom, field trips, dances, sporting events, school grounds) to provide a safe and positive learning environment.
• Participate in meetings and trainings (e.g., Professional Development, department meetings, Whole Faculty Study Groups, IEPs) to convey and gather required information.
• Prepare written materials (e.g., grades, attendance, anecdotal records, lesson plans) to document student progress and meet mandated requirements.
• Report health and safety issues to administrative personnel or appropriate agencies (e.g., fights, suspected child or substance abuse, inappropriate social behaviors) to maintain students’ personal safety and comply with regulatory requirements.
• Respond to emergency situations to resolve immediate safety concerns and/or direct to appropriate personnel; respond to inquiries from teachers, parents, administrators, etc., to resolve issues and provide information.

Education & Experience

Certificates, Licenses & Special Requirements

• Missouri Teaching Certificate in a job‑related area
• Ability to gain and maintain “Highly Qualified” status as defined by Missouri’s Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (required)
• Background clearance satisfactory to the District (required)
• Consistent access to high‑speed internet and personal device (required)
• Must reside in the State of Missouri (exceptions may exist for teachers employed by Missouri Launch partner districts)

Work Conditions and Physical Requirements

• Work environment primarily inside, with moderate noise and temperature levels.
• Work is sedentary; may require lifting up to 10 pounds occasionally.
• Requires use of fingers, perception of sounds, and logical decision making; involves verbal communication, hand motions, and visual acuity.
