Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the District approved curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
- Translates lesson plans into developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
- Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere.
- Evaluates pupils' academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records in a timely fashion, and prepares progress reports.
- Identifies pupil needs and makes appropriate referrals and develops strategies for individual education plans.
- Communicates regularly with parents outside normal classroom hours via Schoology, newsletters, phone calls, emails, conferences, etc.
- Works collaboratively with colleagues and supervisors.
- Maintains and improves professional skills through meetings, coursework, workshops, and seminars to stay current with best practices.
- Participates in a professional learning community regularly.
- Integrates technology into instruction.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
Specific Responsibilities
- Collaborates in a fast-paced environment interacting with students, staff, administrators, parents, and community members with multiple requests and concerns.
- Supports and communicates with other administrators and staff.
- Responds in emergency situations.
- Follows school District policies.
- May coordinate work of paraprofessionals and volunteers in the classroom and on field trips.
- May contribute to goal-setting for paraprofessionals.
Knowledge and Skills
- Ability to teach Computer Science, Advanced Robotics, and Web Design effectively.
- Proficient in operating computers, software, and classroom technology.
- Ability to develop positive relationships with students, staff, administrators, parents, and the community.
- Maintain professionalism and composure in diverse situations.
- Show initiative and be a self-starter.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for interaction with various stakeholders.
