General Description

Requires candidates to have or be working towards an endorsement appropriate to the position. The teacher is responsible for fulfilling obligations and reflecting the philosophies outlined in contract, state and federal law, and the policies, regulations, and rules of Bellevue Public Schools. The teacher provides students with appropriate and effective instruction, acts as a positive role model, and creates a safe and healthy environment for maximum potential achievement.

Specific Responsibilities

• Apply professional competencies to meet the standards adopted by the State Board of Education and Bellevue Public Schools.
• Follow the Code of Ethics adopted by the State Board of Education.
• Adhere to all policies, rules, regulations, and directives of the district and building administration.
• Exhibit character, moral standards, and personal habits suitable for emulation by youth.
• Maintain mental and physical health adequate for the responsibilities of the position.
• Devote appropriate time and energy to duties and school business.
• Maintain positive relationships with patrons, employees, and students.
• Conduct oneself in and out of school in a manner that does not discredit the school or district.
• Act morally within legal limits to maintain professional educator contracts.
• Supervise students and staff in a manner that is not cruel.
• Fulfill teaching responsibilities as defined by state law and as assigned by supervisors.
• This position is subject to veterans' preference.
