The primary role of a teacher is to provide students with educational activities that foster their growth. Teachers will help students develop the skills necessary for societal contribution.

Instructional Strategies

  • Design and implement lesson plans aligned with the charter’s curriculum, reviewed by the dean of academics
  • Adapt lesson plans for different learning styles
  • Follow guidelines from the California Department of Education, charter policies, and regulations
  • Use data to inform instructional activities
  • Collaborate with special education staff on IEPs
  • Coordinate with staff on instructional goals and methods
  • Manage teacher aide and volunteer activities
  • Utilize technology to enhance instruction

Growth and Development

  • Assist students in improving study habits
  • Conduct assessments to evaluate progress
  • Manage extracurricular activities
  • Support outside activities as approved
  • Model professionalism and support the charter’s mission

Classroom Management and Organization

  • Prepare classroom environment conducive to learning
  • Manage student behavior per the student handbook
  • Ensure safety and proper use of facilities and materials
  • Contribute to selection of educational resources

Communication

  • Build rapport with parents, students, and staff
  • Maintain professional relationships
  • Communicate clearly and accurately

Other Duties

  • Engage in professional development
  • Stay compliant with regulations and policies
  • Maintain records and reports
  • Participate in faculty and staff meetings

Note: Duties may vary by site based on needs. Other responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.
