Hiring Bonus: $2,500 hiring bonus available for new hires for the Medical Assistant (Health Care Technician I) position.

*Bonus will be paid out 50% at 90 days and 50% at six months.*

The Medical Assistant (Health Care Technician I - HCT) supports comprehensive health care for Mines students.

In this role, you will:

  • Interview patients, record vital signs, and document medical history in the Electronic Medical Record, including allergies, medications, and medical background.
  • Charge and document procedures, treatments, and medications.
  • Implement treatment plans for patients, primarily late adolescents and young adults.
  • Assist with procedures, perform phlebotomy, administer medications and immunizations.
  • Handle prior authorizations, referrals, and equipment sizing.
  • Support emergency responses as delegated.
  • Stock and disinfect exam rooms regularly.
  • Perform Point of Care tests and assist with immunization compliance and front desk duties as needed.

Note: This full-time position is Monday-Friday, 8:00 am to 4:45 pm, reporting to campus.

Residency Requirement: Only open to Colorado residents at application.

Class Code & Description: C6R1XX - Health Care Technician I

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Certified Medical Assistant (must submit certificate)
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills
  • Attention to detail for accurate charting and assessments

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in family practice or urgent care/ER
  • Procedural experience (phlebotomy, immunizations)
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records
  • Experience working with college students
  • Front desk reception experience
  • Relevant state experience
