Job summary

New Bedford Public School District Parker Early Childhood Center – New Bedford, Massachusetts is seeking a Para Educator 2:1 Empower to support students with diverse needs. The role emphasizes inclusion and collaboration with teachers to implement IEP goals and behavioral plans.

The ideal candidate will have 48 college credits or a ParaPro credential, experience with children, CPI training if required, and a passion for helping school-aged children in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 48 college credits; or Passed the Para Pro test.
• Experience working with children in an educational setting preferred.
• Willingness to receive CPI training if necessary.
• Experience with children with Special Education services preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support students’ growth and achievement including IEP goals and objectives.
• Assist students in learning across content areas in individual, small group, and whole group settings.
• Assist students in self-regulation and management of emotions and behavior to maximize learning.
• Provide sensory support to students as needed, including sensory breaks and equipment usage.
• Assist and support students in communication between peers and staff, including assistive technology.
• Support student transitions during arrival, dismissal, and class changes.
• Provide development support for social, emotional, and behavioral skills in individuals or groups.
• May review student IEPs on an as-needed basis to ensure needs are met.
• May provide personal care assistance to students as needed.
• Other duties related to student support as directed by Administration.
