Job description

The Warehouse Operator performs a variety of responsibilities in the warehouse including pulling/checking customer orders, moving materials, loading/unloading shipments, and general material handling. Operates necessary equipment to store and move products throughout the warehouse.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Essential Primary Responsibilities:

1. Loads and unloads trucks in an efficient manner.
2. Performs a variety of material movement tasks for order filling, receiving, and loading.
3. Safely uses assigned power equipment to move material and meet order requirements (crown truck, Raymond side-loader, overhead crane, fork lift, etc.).
4. Follows customer requirements to select, fill and package orders.
5. Attaches bundle tag to material being shipped and stages for shipment.
6. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
7. Works under immediate supervision.
8. Notices and reports defects and/or excessive wear and tear of equipment; may perform set-up and preventative maintenance of equipment.
9. Maintains a clean and safe work environment.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions:

1. Stooping, standing, and manual dexterity.
2. Light lifting (occasional 25 lbs or less).
3. Heavy lifting (frequent 25 lbs+).
4. Assigned safety equipment must be worn at all times (hard hat, safety shoes with metatarsal, safety glasses with side shields, gloves, arm guards).
5. Frequent exposure to mechanical moving parts.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Qualifications:

1. Basic measurement competency.
2. Basic math competency.
3. Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a warehouse environment.
4. Strong work ethic.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. High school graduate or equivalent.
2. One year of work experience.
3. One year of equipment experience.
4. PC literacy.
5. Certified in assigned equipment (forklift, Raymond side-loader, overhead crane, etc.).
