Qualifications

• 5+ years of Tool and Die Making, Machining, or Mold Making preferred.
• Strong hands-on experience operating manual machining equipment.
• Proven ability to build, machine, install, and repair tooling, dies, molds, fixtures, and production tooling.
• Ability to read blueprints, mechanical drawings, sketches, or worn components.
• Strong understanding of precision tolerances and measurement equipment.

Job Title: 1st Shift Tool and Die Maker

Job Description

Join a growing manufacturing team in Canton, Ohio as a 1st Shift Tool and Die Maker / Machinist (7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.). In this hands‑on role, you design, build, repair, and maintain custom tooling, molds, dies, fixtures, and machine components used in the production of highly precise electronic industry parts. You work with a variety of manual machining equipment, troubleshoot complex tooling challenges, and collaborate with engineering and production teams to support efficient, high‑quality manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, repair, modify, and maintain molds, dies, tooling, fixtures, and machine components used in production.

• Machine precision parts using manual lathes, Bridgeport mills, surface grinders, drill presses, and other tool room equipment.

• Diagnose tooling and die issues that affect production performance, part quality, and equipment reliability.

• Perform precision fitting, assembly, and adjustment of tooling components to meet tight tolerances and functional requirements.

• Read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, technical specifications, and sketches to create or repair tooling.

• Fabricate replacement parts and tooling for custom-built production machinery and specialized in‑house equipment.

• Troubleshoot press, stamping, forming, and tooling issues to minimize downtime and improve throughput.

• Verify dimensions, tolerances, and part quality using precision measuring instruments and inspection tools.

• Collaborate closely with engineering and production teams to improve tooling performance, reliability, and efficiency.

• Support stamping, forming, pressing, and precision manufacturing operations by maintaining and enhancing tooling.

• Apply welding and fabrication skills, when needed, to build or repair fixtures, tooling, and machine components.

• Maintain safe, clean, and organized work practices throughout the machine shop and production areas.

Essential Skills

• 5+ years of experience in Tool and Die Making, Machining, or Mold Making is preferred.

• Strong, hands‑on experience operating manual machining equipment, including manual lathes, Bridgeport mills, surface grinders, drill presses, and other tool room equipment.

• Proven ability to build, machine, install, and repair tooling, dies, molds, fixtures, and production tooling.

• Ability to create and repair tooling from blueprints, mechanical drawings, sketches, or worn components.

• Strong understanding of precision tolerances, fits, and the use of precision measuring equipment.

• Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.

• Experience troubleshooting dies, molds, fixtures, and production tooling in a manufacturing environment.

• Supporting stamping, forming, pressing, or precision manufacturing operations is highly preferred.

• Mechanical aptitude with the ability to diagnose and resolve tooling and press‑related issues.

• Commitment to safe work practices and maintaining an organized machine shop environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Welding and fabrication experience is a plus and beneficial for building and repairing tooling and fixtures.

• Experience working with specialized, custom‑built equipment designed and manufactured in‑house is advantageous.

• Comfort working on a variety of custom tooling and machining projects with changing priorities.

• Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex tooling challenges independently.

• Attention to detail and a focus on producing high‑quality, precise components for electronic industry parts.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of North Canton, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $45.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job‑related factors.
