Job summary

Americ, Inc. is seeking a forklift operator to move goods in a production and warehouse setting. You will verify and scan load, inspect for damage, and ensure accurate paperwork for shipping. The role requires operating a yard truck, following SOPs, and maintaining safety standards.

The schedule runs Monday to Friday, 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The candidate should have at least 2 years forklift experience and be able to lift up to 50 pounds in a noisy, manufacturing environment.

Description

Purpose of Position

Responsible for the movement of goods (Raw & Finished) throughout the production and warehouse in a safe and timely manner. Responsible to ensure work orders/cases are verified and scanned to the load before shipping. Inspect all cases to ensure they are free from damage and product that has been ordered by the customer is exactly is shipped. Must also ensure all corresponding paperwork is correct for processing by the shipping office. Consistently pulls/selects and ships products and materials at a level that meets or exceeds current quality requirements and the demands of AAF Flanders. As with all positions in the shipping department, must ensure that the Standard Operating Procedures are followed as they are written to ensure quality measures are met. Must have knowledge of operating and working as a Yard Jockey.

The schedule will be Monday - Friday from 5:00 a.m. till 1:30 p.m.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES
  • 1. Operate powered industrial equipment as trained by OHSA and AAF/Flanders standards.
  • 2. Movement of materials in timely manner as to ensure the operation is flowing smoothly.
  • 3. Process raw material receipts following the Standard Operating Procedure.
  • 4. Rotate stock as necessary.
  • 5. Remove and report all damages as they are discovered.
  • 6. Using an RF Scanner, scan each case for verification of product.
  • 7. Ensure shipment is prepared for shipping.
  • 8. Communicate all quality and miss-pulls to WH Supervisor/WH Manager.
  • 9. Complete/process BOL (Bill Of Lading) paperwork for processing by shipping office.
  • 10. Verify accuracy of outgoing shipments in accordance to the WO provided.
  • 11. Use computers to access or retrieve data (BPCS).
  • 12. Perform day-to-day administrative tasks such as maintaining information files
  • 13. Ensure assigned housekeeping tasks are completed daily and issues reported to Supervisor.
  • 14. Perform other duties as assigned by WH Supervisor/WH Manager.
Requirements
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • 1. Ability to drive a forklift in a safe manner adhering to all safety guidelines.
  • 2. Must have basic math skills.
  • 3. Good reading and writing skills.
  • 4. Must have good communication skills.
  • 5. Must be able to handle multiple tasks at one time.
  • 6. Must have the ability to interact with team in a positive manner.
  • 7. Must be able to prioritize task according to their importance or urgency.
  • 8. Must have a positive attitude to adapt to change.
  • 9. Must know how to operate a Yard Truck (Terminal Truck / Yard Spotter)
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • 1. Responsible for unloading/loading trailers in the reasonable expected (RE) time.
  • 2. Responsible for locating pallets in the reasonable expected (RE) time.
  • 3. Responsible for ensuring that orders shipped out are accurate.
  • 4. Adhere to all safety regulations in forklift operations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • 1. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • 2. Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
  • 3. Must be able to bend and stoop for long periods of time.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • 1. Must be able to work in a manufacturing/warehouse environment.
  • 2. Must be able to withstand noisy, dusty work areas.
  • 3. Must wear safety glasses at all times.
  • 4. Must be able to withstand both hot and cold atmosphere depending on weather conditions.
  • 5. Must be able to operate a forklift according to proper safety guidelines including the wearing of seat belts.
  • 6. Must be aware of surrounding at all times.
SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS
  • 1. Must have a high school diploma or the equivalent.
  • 2. 2 years previous forklift experience
  • 3. Must complete and pass Phase 1 of forklift program.
  • 4. Must be able to operate a forklift in a professional manner and have good maneuverability skills.
