River Valley Holdings is a family-owned distribution company based in Syracuse, NY, serving retail customers across the northeastern United States. The River Valley family of companies: River Valley Foods, Cavallaro Foods, and Empire Valley distribute a wide range of specialty dry and frozen grocery items and consumable products out of warehouses in Syracuse, NY.

General Description/Purpose:

Warehouse Sanitation Workers are responsible for cleaning and maintaining compliance to cleanliness and sanitation standards in an SQF certified facility. The successful candidate is thorough, task-oriented, dependable, and efficient.

Job Responsibilities:

• Clean and dust all areas of the warehouse as directed
• Operate a power floor sweeper and scrubber to clean floors
• Use a scissor lift to clean and dust ceiling and elevated areas
• Gather trash and operate trash compactors and cardboard and plastic bailers to dispose of waste and process recycling
• Safely use cleaning chemicals and prepare cleaning solutions to wash, disinfect and maintain various areas, equipment and fixtures in the warehouse
• Safely operate equipment follow all safety requirements as expected for sanitation duties
• Effectively use PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) as required for various tasks
• Work with team members and supervisors to ensure coordination of work
• Perform additional job duties as required

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Must be at least 18 years old
• Able to read and speak English
• Able to work at high altitudes and with cleaning chemicals
• Able to pass a pre-employment drug screening test
• Must have reliable transportation to and from work
• Ability to adapt and demonstrate flexibility
• Ability to follow instructions, procedures and efficiently finish designated assignments
• Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Prior sanitation experience (preferred, not required)

Physical Requirements:

• Able to lift 50 pounds consistently through the shift
• Able to stand, walk, lift and bend for extended periods of time

Work Schedule:

• Sunday - Thursday, 7:30am - 4:15pm

Wages:

• $19.00 per hour
