Job summary

Insight Global in El Segundo, CA, is seeking a Senior Quality Inspector to identify and resolve spacecraft and product quality issues during production. The role ensures all inspections meet aerospace standards and supports product traceability, compliance, and continuous quality improvement.

The inspector will verify hardware against engineering specs, document nonconformances, and collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality Engineering and Design teams.

Qualifications

• Five years of experience as a Quality Inspector in aerospace, military, or high‑reliability manufacturing.
• Experience using measuring instruments such as scales, micrometers, calipers and digital multimeters.
• Advanced knowledge of AS9100 quality standards.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Experience inspecting aerospace components and ensuring conformance with specs and regulations.
• Proficient in documenting nonconformances and contributing to NCRs and quality records.

Responsibilities

• Perform in‑process and final inspections of components, subassemblies, and assemblies to ensure compliance with specifications.
• Document nonconformances and deviations identified during manufacturing, integration, test and launch operations.
• Support root cause analysis and corrective actions with inspection data for multiple teams.

Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Quality Inspector who is responsible for identifying, resolving, and eliminating spacecraft and product quality issues that arise during production operations.

This role plays a key part in ensuring that all in-process and final production inspections meet rigorous aerospace quality standards, supporting manufacturing compliance, product traceability, and continuous quality improvement.

The inspector will collaborate closely with multiple departments to verify that the hardware conform to engineering specifications and company procedures.

This is a 1st Shift, 9/80 position, 6AM - 3:30PM

Typical Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform in-process and final inspections of components, subassemblies, and assemblies across manufacturing, integration, test, and launch operations to ensure compliance with engineering specifications and quality standards.




• Document and report nonconformances, defects, and deviations identified during manufacturing, integration, test, and launch operations.




• Support root cause analysis and corrective action activities by providing inspection data and factual information to Manufacturing, Quality Engineering, and Design teams.




• Follow and contribute to inspection and test plans, acceptance criteria, and work instructions applicable to manufacturing, assembly, test, and launch processes.




• Conduct routine process checks and verify adherence to manufacturing and assembly procedures and quality standards.




• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of inspection results and traceability records in ERP/MES systems such as Manufacturo, Costpoint, JIRA, etc.




• Collaborate with production and quality teams to ensure quality standards are consistently met throughout the production lifecycle.




• Assist with readiness reviews by confirming inspection readiness and compliance across all production phases including manufacturing, assembly, test, and launch.




• Analyze inspection and defect data to identify trends and elevate significant quality concerns to the appropriate stakeholders or quality leadership.




• Provide technical support and clarify workmanship standards and acceptance criteria to production personnel as needed.




• Participate in continuous improvement efforts by highlighting inspection-related inefficiencies, process gaps, and opportunities to enhance quality

• Advanced understanding of product manufacturing, assembly, test, and inspection processes




• Working knowledge of process auditing techniques to verify compliance with defined quality requirements




• Experience inspecting aerospace components and ensuring conformance with engineering specifications, quality standards, and applicable regulations




• Participation in TRS (Test Readiness Scrum) meetings for component environmental testing




• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, harness wiring diagrams, and internal/external specifications




• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to articulate hardware or systems-related issues to technical teams




• Must pass a practical inspection exam




• This position will require the ability to apply for a TS/SCI U.S. Security Clearance - 5-8 years of experience in a Quality Assurance or Quality Inspection role




• Experience with avionics and electrical systems




• Experience inspecting solder joints, crimping, conformal coating, staking, and surface mount devices in accordance with NASA-STD-8739, IPC-J-STD-001, and IPC-A-610 standards




• Wire harness inspection experience per NASA-STD-8739 and/or IPC-A-620 standards




• Experience with propulsion system or fluid assembly inspections




• Familiarity with inspection of assembly tooling, composites fabrication, and structural assemblies




• Demonstrated ability to train or guide other quality inspectors in inspection techniques and quality requirements




• Experience creating or contributing to nonconformance reports (NCRs) and documenting quality findings




• Proficient in interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and quality documentation
