Job description

Objective / Purpose

The Production Operator is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining production equipment to safely and efficiently process products that meet quality standards and production targets. This role requires adherence to safety policies, operating procedures, quality requirements, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Areas of Responsibility / Tasks

Performance must reflect appropriate level of expertise and achievement of the desired results for the items listed below.

General
  • Demonstrates Ravago core values of Human Focus, Entrepreneurship, Professionalism, and Humility.
  • Adheres to work order requests to meet customer requirements.
  • Pull and stage product for request fulfillment.
  • Feeds product to conveyors, hoppers, or other feeding devices, and unloads packaged product.
  • Inspects filled container to ensure that product is packaged according to specifications.
  • Assembles and fills various package types including but not limited to bags, boxes, gaylords, and supersacks.
  • Accurately and legibly fill out warehouse tally sheets, samples, label requests, and row charts.
  • Utilize the warehouse management system to record movement of product and create identification labeling of product.
  • Perform material movements to optimize warehouse utilization.
  • Assist with performing physical inventory.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Production Supervisor, Manager, or Director of Operations.
Communication
  • Keep leadership abreast of significant issues or developments that impact quality, safety, health, or environmental.
Safety & Environmental Compliance
  • Assist with facility Operation Clean Sweep compliance.
  • Maintain a safe working environment; Observe all OSHA and Company safety policies (including but not limited to proper PPE utilization).
  • Operate tow motor and scissor lift, safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain a clean work space; daily general cleaning of production work areas including stray/empty packages.
  • Report damages, injuries, and near-miss incidents.
Quality Compliance
  • Perform equipment cleanout including but not limited to hoppers, box dumpers, convey lines, blenders, and silos.
  • Collect samples for required products and processes.
  • Identify contaminations by visual inspections.
  • Generate and identify records of risk and opportunity.
  • Follow all ISO requirements; this includes but is not limited to submitting processing information when problem issues occur with damaged product, lost product, or other issues.
  • Ensure all ISO documentation is current and adhered to.
  • Immediately report nonconforming products or process deviations.
Repack
  • Utilize various equipment to perform request fulfillment including but not limited to bag to bag, bag to box, box to bag, box to box, supersack to box, box to supersack, etc.
  • Perform package relabel processes.
  • Operate and clean the Maguire blender.
  • Perform end of shift inspection on equipment and work areas.
Silo Packaging & Blending
  • Utilize HMI control panels to operate rail pumps, blenders, silos, and packaging lines.
  • Record product utilization and completion for blends and repacks accurately.
  • Operate and clean the Maguire blender.
Bulk
  • Utilize scaling software to weigh inbound and outbound bulk trucks.
  • Operate equipment to ascend and descend railcars and bulk trucks
  • Load and unload bulk trucks and railcars using portable transload equipment.
  • Complete all paperwork and inspections associated with bulk inbound, outbound, and intraplant accurately.
  • Escort and verify carriers to load and unload bulk trucks.
  • Perform railcar washes.
  • Perform blender/railcar to railcar transloads.
  • Ensure accurate railcar placement by performing daily verifications and inspections.
  • Fulfill sample requests from railcars and bulk-trucks.
  • Prepare and secure railcars for departure.
Pulverizing
  • Utilize testing equipment to qualify product for density and flow.
  • Troubleshoot and adjust equipment to ensure production quality of product.
  • Utilize HMI control panels to monitor and operate silo and convey systems.
  • Maintain data logs, test sheets, and paperwork for multiple concurrent orders.
  • Clean blades, sifter boxes, mill housings, and grates of accumulated resin.
Minimum Qualifications / Education / Certifications
  1. Education
    1. High school diploma preferred or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    2. Minimum 1 year of forklift experience preferred.
  2. Demonstrated ability to lead by example by consistently meeting department expectations.
  3. Ability to maintain machinery necessary to perform a specialized task.
  4. Ability to operate hand tools and mechanical equipment.
  5. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.
  6. Ability to demonstrate and operate basic computer and warehouse scanners.
  7. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers and decimals.
  8. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  9. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
